chicago.jpgSeeking the Shalom of the City: the role of the local church in social justice

A conference hosted by Christian Associates
Thursday June 21 thru Saturday June 23
Chicago, Illinois

“Christ is God’s Word and God’s Lamb, come into the world for the good of all people, who are all God’s creatures and loved by God. Christian faith is therefore a ‘prophetic’ faith that seeks to mend the world. And idle or redundant faith—a faith that does not seek to mend the world—is a seriously malfunctioning faith...” (Miroslav Volf, A Public Faith)

We are called to be menders and healers. Christ has granted those who believe in him the privilege of being his co-laborers in the grand work of redeeming and reconciling all things. The question is: have we responded to the call?

Too often, local bodies of believers stand stock-still while the world around us continues in untended woundedness. How may we be agents of healing and redemption among the poor and among those discriminated against due to race or gender? How may we be reconcilers in contexts of religious diversity? How may Christians build bridges to those with alternate views of sexuality?

CA’s conference this June in Chicago seeks to stir your imagination and mobilize gathered bodies of believers towards participating in God’s work of restoration.  You are invited to attend!
